5th-Grade Teacher Who Asked Students To Justify KKK Gets Suspended
The assignment asked students:
“You are a member of the KKK. Why do you think your treatment of African Americans is justified?”
Silent, the horror! Asking 5th grade students to think and reason. No wonder this political correctness is killing us. I have much more to say about this, later.

btw there was no Bangladesh in Gandhi's time - only East Pakistan & West Pakistan - the person who gave birth to Bangladesh (east pakistan)was Indira Gandhi who helped Shekh Mujibur Rahman to fight the revolutionary war against pakistan
Indeed, you are correct. I miswrote.
I was actually referring to the Mountbatten Plan, which divided India before the British Government exited and left a partitioned India. That broke Gandhi's heart. I think it broke Mountbatten's too. He loved India. As it turns out, India was already divided and deals made before he came to finalize the British withdrawal.
Kashmir has always been embattled. Some years ago I joined a yahoogroup that was involved in detailing the happenings. At that time, historians and politicians were part of the conversation, but I had not yet become political as I am now.
Thank you for reading, Rashmi and allowing me to self-correct.
I'm with Gandhi on all this political and religious hatred and bloodshed.
Crazy, mad world.

Silent, I suspect you knew my friend, Sharon Pacione. We met on a poetry yahoo group. Little did I know that she lived 20 or so minutes from me. We attended many interesting events together--until she moved to Chicago to be with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a dedicated vegan and friend of all creatures, great and small. Since her death, no one has filled her space, though many articles such as yours are posted by friends and fb groups.
What is wrong with us as a society is our capitalism sickness and our propensity in killing for business and calling it survival.
Sharon happened to be a close friend
of a friend of mine's mother in Virginia,
I never met Sharon in person
yet we did have some email exchanges.
Tripping the Light
we are each a star
a unique tone in the cosmic symphony
a spiral that lives beyond boundaries
beyond concepts of reality
we are a cell in the body of infinity
traveling the path of evolution
navigating unlimited dimensions
limited only by perception
we are imagination
channeling inner wisdom
crediting etheric strangers
comfortable with illusion
we are guardians of the silver cord
masters of frequency and pattern
bonding with the elements
we tap memories of the trinity
illuminating the giver and receiver,
creator and creation merging
to birth realms of possibility
we are ancient astronauts
we are travelers from the future
we are attributes of the gods
we are the outcome of ascension
we are the unknown, the mystery with amnesia
we are the philosopher's stone
we are potential nourished in darkness
we are sleepwalkers flirting with sunrise
we are a time-released capsule,
playing in fields of consciousness
a computer bank of all that is,
owner of the radio and stations we broadcast
we are particles and waves tripping the light
the ebb and flow, the in and out
starring in the role of a lifetime
on the stage of immortality

Thank you. Do you have a copy of her book? It's uniquely wonderful.
I don't think she left anything out of who we are, other than the fact I miss who she is.

A disturbed father live streamed his own death on Facebook Live
after his daughter got engaged without his permission.
The man was identified as Ayhan Uzun, 54, of Kayseri in central Turkey.
“Nobody asked me,” Uzun said. “Nobody treated me like a man.
My father-in-law took my place and without having a right, he approved my daughter’s wedding…
Nobody said this girl’s father is alive.
Though I would have waited for my daughter and family to say to me: ‘Come, Father, be with us.’”
Just one of a few good reasons to die when one is bound by stone-age religious and cultural ignorance. Better him than honour killing.

Poetry’s political legitimacy stems mainly from its traditional use in tribal mediation—
a long history in the territory now known as modern Yemen.
Thank you again, Silent, keep on finding and posting these worthy articles. I happen to like Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
As does America, including the inauguration of our new presidents.
"Although there are differing traits, customs, and political goals of tribes across Yemen, there do exist unifying characteristics, including the use of poetry in ritual and daily life. Rather than a simple literary pastime, poetry and its recitation in these regions is a "constitutive social practice" performed at conflict mediations, weddings, funerals, and other social gatherings."
