Tell me about your despair,
yours, and I will tell you mine.
–Mary Oliver, Wild Geese

Iron Cross decoder ring
ignited as if shagging
after frictionless days

seduced on the Autobahn,
I strike your match on how
nobody’s tone-deaf wife

wipes my demented A-hole
then hoses a stranger’s
pissshit off her living room

rug plus polished floor where
Gerhard’s crazed howling mug
tore someone’s daughter’s

fave chair’s plush schnitzel
upholstery before electing
to put him down for feline

HIV or chemo-unresponsive
lymphoma. We quiet devices,
sigh at snow goslings, marvel

at their flock’s savant V, guess
which mate of a monogamous
pair is falling through just like

a shooting star in despair. For now
a guest constellation of craven
ravens straight out of Poe wraps

grizzled homunculi around Twain’s
riverboat gambler axel in deep state
toll road private affair shoot-outs

between Silicon Valley keyboard
intrigue and nearby’s Audubon
Ranch yakking wilding aeries.
