the giant oak swayed
back and forth in unison
to the wind chime’s melody
the chime hanging onto the oak’s limb
by a very fine line
I would have liked to believe that
it was a dance of accompaniment
a harmonious joining
but it was the breeze that
gave them their synchronicity
and in the stillness
when the air held its breath
they had nothing in common at all
