  The Nice One
« on: October 21, 2007, 09:18:20 PM » by Rick Stansberger
a Stark, Ohio poem

Enthusiastic around
the house, experimental
in bed, patient with

their kid, witty without
malice at faculty wingdings,
loved to read, loved

to save money, smart
about health, tight
body in her forties,

all she said was,
"I hate your mother,"
when Dickhardt

asked her for a divorce.
"She's right, you know,"
said the School Teacher

some years later,
her head in D's lap.
"Your mother ruined you

for any woman
who's halfway sane."

So sorry that I missed this back in September!  Geez, it says so much about Dickhardt and shouldn't have been overlooked so completely.  Good one, rick.  Much enjoyed.

This is Dickhardt's definitive poem.

Really good.

I thought the poem was a dud.  No response to it.  Thanks for letting me know.  I think it might be definitive, too.  Thanks for picking it, too!
