The writing is very fine and every word well chosen but I had some difficulty because I wanted to know why you are leaving (that is, I wanted you to tell the cat that or say to it why you couldn't explain) and I didn't entirely get it when you told the cat what to do, whereas the idea seems to be that the cat will be afraid -- and I don't think you reassure it.  And I'm not sure why a cat would need to be told to remember a favorite spot.  So...there is a great deal of mystery here for me, which I cannot demystify by rereading the poem. Finally I wondeer: is this a poem which wants to be about you, or about the cat, or both?  Funny, the writing is so very appealing and yet I did have problems with it.  I hope I  have expressed this reaction with tact.

JB I think you are trying too hard to read something into it.

For me it was about leaving - he's leaving the farm and things he loves but is aware that things will remain the same even without him.
