in the sunlight w/ faces
contorted by fear and by shame
at the edge of the freeway
found the baby’s body there,
found the mother’s,
and the myth was complete
the song went to #1
none of the words had any meaning,
but we all fucking loved it

LOL Nora, it's such a versatile, one size fits all, BOGO, kind of word.

it's always a great word for added emphasis. sometimes i just can't find any others that'll do the trick. it's good for live readings, cuz you can just load it up w/ such an insane amount of venom and contempt.

you can't say 'fuck' or any other form of derivative on any other site - but then again - I ask myself -
what
- does - -
"it"
- matter?" I don't write much anymore . . .
fuck!! it's a good poem, and I like it, I surely do.

sure, the contempt thing's true,
but when it's the real deal
it feels good too...

Great poem. No effing problem with it - the right word at the right place and time.

It's good to revisit some of your poems on here today, John. My son is almost seventeen and he's reading and interpreting poetry in class. Or perhaps I should say, he's being told what the proper interpretation should be and it's driving him crazy. Nevertheless, he's reading poetry and talking about it. I introduced him to some of your stuff in "Between Truth and Mercy." It made quite the impact.
