I'd like to extend a warm welcome to Poetry Circle visitors and to encourage you to register with the forum. Registration is free and easy, and with registration you'll be able to submit poetry, participate in discussions, and critique the work of others. To register, you need to supply only a user name and valid e-mail address. Rest assured that we will never give out your e-mail address or sell it.

Our purpose here at Poetry Circle is to create a community of poets and lovers of poetry. The site will evolve based upon the needs and the desires of its members. All types and styles of poetry are welcome at Poetry Circle.

We currently have two primary boards for poetry: a general submission board and an "editors' picks" board. The first board is for anyone to submit poetry of any type. The second features work selected by one of the Poetry Circle editors. Once registered, you may comment upon poetry in any board on the site, but only editors may select work to be included on the "editors' picks" board.

Poetry Circle editors are veteran poets, academics, and former academics who write and enjoy reading poetry. Their styles are varied and their tastes are open. I want to stress that any type of poetry--from concrete and experimental to verse written in traditional forms--is encouraged. Excellence and originality are the only requirements needed to get your work into the "selected" board or to have your work featured on the site's main page.

I am new to the Web and I am so glad I found your site.  It is exactly what I needed at the moment.  I have been writing for over fifty years, have published a fair amount but have not had a Real Career, and I am still working towards ways to get my poems available to readers.  Also, I am writing with more gusto than I imagined, and am feeling courageous and excited.  The responses I have gotten in just one day from your site are very, very insightful -- for the most part (as I see them) -- and extremely encouraging.  I am now reading some of the other poet's work and replying to them.  What a really fine service you provide!  Thanks indeed.  Jonathan Bracker
