  A brain over-soaked in formaldehyde
« on: February 03, 2012, 07:39:45 AM » by James Carver
it’s early

way too early
for chipmunks
with heavy chisels

etched behind heavy eyelids

where glistening shards
dance
then morph into
the arid landscape

littered with gorillas
in pink tutus
to fill the void
of humanity

toe twirl
to the eclectic sounds
of Nina Simone

time
to layoff  booze
and gran's prescription pills

dear James

ahhhh

eclectic sounds of Nina Simone

unfortunately reminds me of tales from a dear friend of mine who was for a while Nina's lawyer,
and all i heard about was how an unpleasant person she was.  ' true story '

regardless .......

a good poem

My imagination, or are influential reformers very often rough around the edges up-close and personal - and horrid spouses, parents?
Doublechecked spelling of "Simone" - found her given name Eunice Kathleen Waymon.
Last line typo?

gran, s  has been corrected to gran's

is that some kind of anomaly the computers are doing?

James,

This poem sounds more like a reason to keeps chucking 'em down!

Nice read, greatly enjoyed.

Enjoyed, James, though, sadly the title brought me to memories of my late brother, Ullin (U.T.Place). For the reason take a look at this:
