For any using public transport, the organisers tell me the readings will be done by 10pm.
As this is also Burns night and my 82nd birthday, I promise to remain reasonably coherent, at least until my reading is done.
Cheers

I'd love to be there, Milner.
whether thy soul
Soars Fancy's flights beyond the pole,
Or darkling grubs this earthly hole
In low pursuit;
Know, prudent, cautious, self-control
Is wisdom's root.

Sounds great Milner- if the weather is at all reasonable, I'll take the afternoon of at pop over the hills from Manchester, before the rush hour. Any idea what the parkings like?
BTW, if there is anyone west of the Pennines who fancies the trip, send me a message and we could share petrol costs. I live in south Manchester, near J3 M60.

Be great to met, if you can make it, Roger. Don't know the venue, so have no idea on parking. Don't imagine there would be a problem in the evening, but if you get to Leeds earlier, I guess you could manage somewhere near, temporarily until after 6 or so when I imagine there should be o problem at the Centre. Fraid this is all guess work.

Milner,
Yes it would be great. Thanks for the parking info. According to their web site there is a little parking on side roads so I might leave the car in a secure car park in the city and get a taxi.
See you there, weather and work permitting.

Hi All
I've just got back from the Leeds event, where I met Milner in person - and he is just as charming, warm and witty iface to face as in verse, with a wicked sense of humor and laugh - and boy let me tell you, this man can read poetry!
We were treated to several extracts from his long poem "City of Flowers" about Cordoba, a work of great color, insight and beauty (and which I am now the proud owner of in book form), as well a from his book of 'Joe and Maisie Fay' poems, and four more recent pieces - all great stuff, and it really brought the evening to life.
The other poets very rather good as well, and great time was had by all.

Tom,
Thanks, yes it was good - and it's a pity about the big pond, and distance in general - apart from anything else it means i have to wait till after lunch for you dozy buggers over there to wake up and start posting! Oh and what makes you think we'd let you in anyway?
:-p
