old bags and lost generation aside
what's your idea of love, a relationship
nyt is calling for ideas on this aspect of humanity that social pundits like to think changes each and every semester
anyone that has been kicked in the nuts by love realises love does not run to a bus schedule, nor stand rigid prior to any serial anthem. I wish this stuff was around in my day.

now having digested the lastest pixelhead gimmick to hit your face today, consider this sincere proposal.
how about a story, memory (gosh), whatever, about a relationship, romance, time, place, experience, you had when love called. The only rule is you must have been divorced at least once. Thank you.

so what else is new in the state of denial
and does anyone really give a shit either way
feel what for your lawyer

after learning
after learning
the hard way
that her tenth
consecutive
boyfriend was
an ugly drunk
a friend urged
her to change
her luck by
dating people
she did not
find attractive
and the upshot
was a better
appreciation
of the drunks

MY COLLEAGUE HAS JUST SENT ME THESE
THESE ARE ENTRIES TO A WASHINGTON POST COMPETITION ASKING FOR A TWO-LINE RHYME
WITH THE MOST ROMANTIC FIRST LINE,
AND THE LEAST ROMANTIC SECOND LINE:
1. My darling, my lover, my beautiful wife:
Marrying you has screwed up my life.
2. I see your face when I am dreaming.
That's why I always wake up screaming.
3. Kind, intelligent, loving and hot;
This describes everything you are not.
4. Love may be beautiful, love may be bliss,
But I only slept with you 'cause I was pissed.
5. I thought that I could love no other
-- that is until I met your brother...
6. Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's
empty and so is your head.
7. I want to feel your sweet embrace;
But don't take that paper bag off your face.
8. I love your smile, your face, and your eyes
Damn, I'm good at telling lies!
9. My love, you take my breath away..
What have you stepped in to smell this way?
10. My feelings for you no words can tell,
Except for maybe 'Go to hell.'
11. What inspired this amorous rhyme?
Two parts vodka, one part lime.
WHO SAID POETRY IS BORING

Romance
Is it Moonlight Sonata
Belgian chocolate
silk sheets?
Is it secret texts
my balcony bra
your cufflinks?
or a whisper
that travelling kiss
which begins at the wrist
and ends at the throat?

interesting, Sue
as a behavioural psychopath,
I see now how National Health Service
waiting rooms (ENT) can become
an arena of sensual foreplay
in the industrial mag and drag corp
this is a grand slam, Sue
— you are, indeed
above the ballcony, at least
a brave, brave lass, and
a tributary of your profession
writing, romance
I've wondered
simply, is
an anything goes story
whichever way, either way
a dream, a darn good dream
a there and back tale
and where's the harm in that.
— smashing, Sue

Ah, Sue, lovely. You inspired me to give it a go too. Tom
Bride
She didn't want to breathe the dark.
I said, But you're already dark inside.
She said, That's not what I believe.
I've seen her hold her breath
between the car door and the porch.
I know she's got a high-tech
incandescent torch inside her purse
for just-in-case.
She isn't dark inside. It's her belief.
And honestly, who's had a peek?
I wooed her anyway.
A phobic woman, I imagined,
might be just my cup of tea:
and I was right.
I fell in love with her.
She fell in love with me.
We kept a light on by the bed.
We even camped once,
though the moon was full enough
we didn't need the Coleman lamp
to sit outside until it got too damp.
She used to joke, Your dick's
the only one who knows I'm right.
That latex hood it wears
protects its cyclops from the light.
The decades passed.
It really wasn't difficult at all.
During that time, I feared
and failed though fearing
to protect myself
from worse things than the dark,
but she kept such an even keel.
The day we had to bury her
I thought, She made it through.
She kept faith in her decency.
She never breathed one mouthful
of the dark that I know
all too well inhabits me.

Whew Tom, that's lovely, very panoramic and you can feel the fine balancing going on between them.

I paid the mortgage
on my way home, today
right at the counter,
and they said it was
just in time
I picked up your refill,
three months worth
so you won't have to
remember
No, I don't mind
plucking those ear-hairs
though I think
they're kind of cute
If the chemo takes
your whole head of hair
you'll still be my favorite
model. Sit still.
.
Ps: I've never been divorced, but hope I can still be forgiven for adding my two cents! ;)

bravo, bravo
two things for you:
the punch of a thigh
lean of my guitarra
eyes, distilled dreams
every step, shocking, new
made to last, at last

Growing up but not by
you only as in me me, but but,
when the other person falls you
stand there until they get up without
saying they should have been looking where
they were going or worn a different pair of shoes. And if...if and when
they do make it back to their feet.
You don't say their knees are muddy.
You don't say how much new pants cost.
You smile. You hold on tighter...and you hope
next time someone has to go down it will be you.
