soapy and ohlson
go
way
back
to schooldays
exchanging
fists
and girls
now more
than
grown
as chalk
and cheese
they’re
ever bound
apart
it’s pretty
much the same
with spot
and that bugger
ohlson’s
bulldog
bitch

Very nice! love how you ended with the dogs. "chalk and cheese" a new expression for me, and a good one - clear, with the ring of folk use to it, even though unfamiliar.
the whole poem has a fine, strict "theology" to it. -Tom

Another great instalment, Milner, but what is someone called Ohlson doing in Yorkshire?
Cheers

I was just gonna comment on ohlson & his heritage. I'll hush for now.
I like the way you use 'bound' here. I see it the way it was intended, I think, but I also see soapy and ohlson 'bound' by two people holding them apart with fists waving in the air too. this one is very visual, milner.
and the dogs are 'bound' too.

John, as with a long poem, once I get a broad seam to mine, things move fast. It's not worked out yet and I've some others in draft form. I need to fill out Alice, and maybe also Spot and Ohlson. Comments are greatly helping me in this. Instinct (that hidden reasoning in the brain) will let me know when to stop and put them all together, Any holes will then be filled. Thanks for your strong support in this.

Yes, Tom, 'chalk and cheese' is a common expresion over here. Thanks for the 'theology'.
Thanks for the Ohlson query, David. he's of Danish stock, on his father's side, but you've given me a hint for another piece - all, or some at least, will be revealed.
Very happy that you picked up on the 'bound', Cheryl. Always wonder whether implications used are apparent to the reader also. I shouldn't, I guess, as it shows lack of respect.
Cheers

Surprised and delighted you picked this, Tom. Didn't consider it a candidate as these Soapy poems are so interlaced. So the idea that it can stand on its own merit is gratifying. Thanks
and cheers
