There's a wonderful laconic tongue-in-cheekness here.  A very re-readable terseness.  I can't put my finger on why I like this so much

Same here. Reminds me of Brautigan, or maybe Michael Palmer.

stewart my apologies for getting to this one so late!  i wanted to comment however because the nature of the piece is continuous.  from the examples that the other poets have posted to how we as poets today write, this is relatable and reads as a simply stated truth from a wise writer.  very glad to see this graced the front page, a fine pick and a wonderful poem!  lawrence
