Nice little piece. I enjoy poems of the everyday. Form is attractive, too.

Interesting how the line 'some day' stops it in its tracks, places a condition on the inevitability of 'will'.

don't know what brought this back up. this is one of my most widely published poems. it was in my book NEW AND SELECTED POEMS and probably a good dozen print magazines.
thanks.

I like this, John.
Not sure about the need for 'and finally' and I can't say exactly why except that as slow as the end may come, when it comes we're done for in a snap. Either way, fine write.

sorry, bill. months and months ago, i attempted to remove all traces (where possible) of my poetry from online poetry sites. i'd reached a point where it had become counterproductive to my books. every time when i think i've got them all, another poem manages to bubble to the surface. with the exception of online reviews written by others, and the rare e-zine appearance, i'm trying to limit my work to my books and print magazines. sorry for the confusion.

Thanks John,
I have read many of your poems on other sites, and I really liked them.

thanks, man. as you can see, that doesn't work in my favor and i'd guess it's been way more than a year since i posted any new creative work online anywhere. i've seen too many people screw up their chances for publication by flooding the market (for free) with their writings. i've seen people have contracts withdrawn or not offered once publishers got wind of the fact that the work is available out there for free. gotta run. we've got a sick pooch who needs my attention.
