  PoetryCircle 2011 Anthology
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:05:15 PM » by Jay Dougherty
Some of the editors of PoetryCircle have finally met to discuss putting together a print-based PoetryCircle anthology. It will likely be a print-on-demand book, and this time around we're going to limit it to those poems that have appeared on the front page since the site was founded. So all of those pieces in the Front Page Archive are eligible for inclusion:

http://www.poetrycircle.com/index.php?board=23.0

If you have a poem in the Front Page Archive, we need your permission to reprint the work. Please provide that permission in this thread. If we don't get permission, we'll not use any work from you. All rights will revert after publication.

As of now, we have no estimated date of publication. We're just in the formative stages, although we're shooting for the middle of this year as a target date.

Thanks!

Remember, it must be a FRONT PAGE poem.

SL,

I know of zero instances of an editor putting her or his own work on the front page, and absolutely zero instances of any editor lobbying another to do so.  As far as I am aware, we leave that completely to the decision of others.  I'm very proud of the way the editors here handle both the picks and the front page.

All mine on Front Page archive are free to be in the anthology, with the exception of 2. I've copywright on these two but the publisher holds reproduction rights. I foresee no problem as I've already permission to put them up here, but will contact them to get the necessary permission this week. Don't foresee any problem based on past experience, but better safe than sorry.

You have my permission to print 'a hollow milk chocolate egg' (of course, that's if you can spare the ink!)

To my knowledge, Mike, the cutoff for this anthology has passed. If we each buy a couple thousand, I'm sure another one will follow quickly, though! Tom

With luck, this will be an annual endeavour. Yours would then appear next year.

Lavonne

Thanks for your vote of confidence; yes, indeed, I'll give my permissions, I just need to double check and see if those poems have been published elsewhere so I can give the appropriate acknowledgement(s).

Eric

It is coming along. We have a publisher, are discussing the cover, and the arrangement of the poems. We hope to have it at the printer in about a month. But don't put me in front of the firing squad if we are late!

Permission granted for "Birthday" to appear in the anthology.  I'd thought it was chosen for the front page after the deadline?

Some of the poems receiving permissions from authors may be past the deadline for the 2009 anthology; I'm hopeful another anthology will follow in not too distant a time, so when I read these permissions, I can already see anther book brewing . . .

Will leave it to Maggie to give us an update as to when the first anthology will be available . . . so much good work, so little time!

We have suffered some technical difficulties since January BUT this project is still alive and well.  We just can't give a printing date yet.

It is still alive, will be named 2011 rather than 2010.  The hold up is the new logo for the site.  We are still debating on some changes!

For what it's worth, for a barely-breathing anthology, and probably far too late, you have my permission to use any of my pieces that appeared on the front pages (I think there might have been one or two ...?)
